The group, formerly called Chappaqua Friends of Hillary (CFOH), announced Thursday that it has changed its named to "Up2US" and it's expanding its membership nationwide. Membership in the group has doubled since election day, Up2US said in a statement, with a total of 2,200 members.
“After a lot of thought and soul-searching, the board of CFOH is very proud to announce that we are changing the group name to Up2US," Chappaqua resident and group member Dawn Greenberg said in a statement. "We will always and forever be the Chappaqua Friends of Hillary and we have no desire to put aside the amazing 20 months we have spent clearly what our mission has become."
CFOH was a visible bastion of local support for Clinton, who was the Democratic candidate.
The liberal-leaning group also included a mission statement, which states the following, “Up2US envisions an America where individuals are represented fairly and treated with kindness and respect. We seek to empower and support all Americans by driving political and social change to build a brighter future for all.”
The rebranded group also announced that it will participate in the New York City branch of the "Women's March," which is a series of demonstrations planned for across the country on Saturday, Jan. 21. The event will be the day after Trump, a Republican businessman who owns properties in Bedford and Briarcliff Manor, is sworn in as president.
The march in New York City, according to Up2US, is set to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.
